Our Story - Braiders Near Me

In November 2023, while starting as a simple side-project to learn new technologies, the need for a dedicated platform for braiders and other stylists that catered to the black community in Canada became quite apparent. After extensive research and development, I developed a basic directory-style site that collected and organized braiders across Canada, especially those on Instagram. The site "Braiders Near Me" was launched at the time and quickly climbed up to the top 10 rank in Google searches across the country. It met some very positive feedback from the braiding community in Halifax and within a week was already helping the general public find braiders.

Six months and over 3000 impressions later, both the project and team expanded to include two new members and two new sites, Barbers Near Me and Stylists Near Me.

Stylists Near Me

Stylists Near Me, built and launched in August 2024 alongside Barbers Near Me, is intended to be the flagship brand going forward as it caters to more than just braiders and hairstylists. A general platform/directory for all professionals in the hair and beauty industry, "Stylists Near Me" seeks to bring all these services into a single, all-compassing platform where our users can find the services they need regardless of gender.

Barbers Near Me

As the name implies, this platform caters to those in the barbering profession. Every month, over 70,000 people use Google Search to look for barbers in Canada (you read that right, just Canada). None of those queries are being directed to the proper resources as most appointment management applications like Acuity, focus on the management software as their primary product and revenue generator. "Barbers Near Me" is intended to be the final destination of those looking as we bring all the relevant professionals and services into one place for a smoother experience.
